Did you know that a "turner" is a gymnast?
Friedrich Jahn, the founder of the Turners in the early 19th century, has been called "the father of modern gymnastics." Many credit Jahn with the invention of the parallel bars, balance beam, vaulting horse, and the horizontal bar. Since it first organized in 1856, the New Ulm Turners have had an active gymnastics program.
Turner Hall Gymnastics has more than 200 children in the fall program. This basic skills program is designed for a safe and fun learning experience without competition. Ages range from 3 through 12. For more information about upcoming programs, call Judy at 354-1872.
